COMING EVENTS

Upcoming

9-20-08 CLASSICAL SHOWCASE SEPTEMBER 20, 2008 Our next CLASSICAL SHOWCASE is scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 2008 from 10 AM to 1 PM in the Mondzac Performing Arts Center of Landon School, 6101 Wilson Lane, Bethesda, MD. This facility has warm-up rooms and a performance stage that are excellent. Our Local is very fortunate that this event is supported and attended by many of the leading Contractors who hire musicians in the classical field and Personnel Managers from most of the area’s orchestras. To enable as many members as possible to be showcased, 5 minutes of performance will be allowed to each scheduled candidate. The format begins with a 2 minute solo, preferably from the standard accompanied repertoire (please note, however, that no accompanists will be allowed). This will be followed by excerpts from our repertoire list. There is no sight-reading. Jim Hewitt, NSO Personnel Manager, will coordinate the proceedings. To sign up for the showcase and get the excerpt list, call (202) 337-9325 on or after August 19th. Registration preference will be given to our newest members who have never played in our showcase. Participants must submit 35 copies of their resumes no later than Monday, September 15th. We will distribute the resumes at the event and mail them to the contractors and personnel managers who are unable to attend. We look forward to your performance on September 20th.
